It is likely that you will be asked to complete a health check at school once a year during your JET term. Health checks are standard for teaching positions in Japan and are a compulsory part of the job.
The check may include:
- weight, height, sight and hearing checks
- urine test
- blood test
- lung X-rays
- EKG test
For public school JETs, the Tokyo BoE also conducts an annual, optional stress health check. Only the individual who takes the stress check will be notified of the results. Please consult the office administator in charge of the Stress Check Program if you have any questions.
