Taking your shoes on and off in Japan can be a real hassle at sometimes, especially if your shoes have laces. Fear not, there is a solution for that too, U-lace! You can replace your regular shoe laces with the rubber elastic laces that fit into the eyelets of your shoes. They come in a variety of colors and can be arranged in many different ways.

There are of course other brands out there, like Hickies, but I have been personally using this brand for over 8 years. If you are lucky enough to find them in the store, great! You can usually find similar items at a sporting goods store in the sports shoes running section. Some rubber shoe laces are long and you have to thread them through your shoes like you would any other lace. There are other stretchy laces that are also made of silicone in case you are sensitive to rubber.

However, if you're not so lucky, you can also buy them online; Amazon, Yahoo Shopping, and Rakuten. Just be sure to count the number of laces you will need before purchase or know the length of the laces you need.
